My Library Card

Residents and non-residents of Burbank are eligible for a free Burbank Public Library card.

All Burbank Unified School District students automatically have full access to the Library through our BConnectED program. Elementary students are issued BConnectED cards and middle and high school students can use their student ID cards just like a regular library card.

For immediate access to Library eBooks and online resources, you must be a California resident and agree to our Terms of Use, then you will directed to an eCard application.

For full access to the entire Library print and online collection, as well as other services, visit a Library location to apply for a permanent card or to upgrade your eCard.

To obtain a permanent Library card, you will need:

  • Photographic proof of identity, such as a driver’s license, state-issued ID card or passport. A commercially issued photo ID with name, such as a gym membership card, may be used to prove identity.
  • Proof of residence, such as a driver’s license, lease or utility bill. A delivery receipt or piece of mail addressed to you at the correct address within the last 30 days may be used as proof of residence.
  • If you are under 18, bring a parent or legal guardian with you to get a card. Or, if you are a Burbank Unified School District student, your student ID already works as a Burbank Public Library card through the BConnectED partnership.
  • You may fill out an application in advance, but for those under 18, a parent or legal guardian must visit the Library in person to complete registration.

When you are issued a Library card, you will also be issued a personal identification number (PIN) that will be used for online account access, self-service checkouts, public computers and certain online resources. You can reset your PIN through your online account. Keep your PIN private!

If your Library card is not providing you access, it has probably expired or your account has been suspended. Cards expire every three years, at which time you need to visit a Library to update your information. Accounts may be suspended due to excess fees or violation of the Library Rules of Conduct.
