A Burbank Public Library card opens up a world of learning, entertainment and opportunity. Find out how to get a Library card.
Loans
Your Library card lets you:
- Check out up to 50 items. Within that limit, no more than 20 each may be DVDs/Blu-rays; CDs or books on CD; or read-along kits
- Place hold requests on up to 20 items
- Access eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, streaming video and other online resources
- Use public computers
- Request interlibrary loan for items not held by Burbank Public Library
Limits
Most material checks out for six weeks, with up to two automatic renewals if no one else is waiting. Magazines, DVDs and Blu-rays check out for two weeks, as do new books for adults. New kids, teen and large print books have a six-week checkout period.
EBooks and other items from the online collection are subject to different checkout, renewal and hold limits. Check each provider in our eLibrary for information.
Fees
Burbank Public Library has eliminated overdue fines as of July 1, 2021. However, items that are lost, damaged or never returned are still subject to fees.
- At 14 days past the due date, unreturned items will be marked lost. The cost of replacement plus a $10 processing fee will be billed to your account. This fee is $5 for paperback books and magazines.
- If charges on your account reach $25 or more, your account will be blocked until fees have been paid or items have been returned.
- Upon return of an undamaged item, all fees will be removed and no fines will be assessed.
- The Library does not accept replacement items in lieu of fee payment.
The Library also charges fees for other services, including interlibrary loan, rental of meeting rooms, and film permits.
